Mar’s Mission to Palm Beach

I love what I do, and I do what I love. While I am always working, I like to change up the scenery a bit. This week I have relocated MARtian headquarters to warmer climes – Palm Beach Florida.

Truth be told, I have a lot of research to do over the next few days, so I was anxious to get away and discover a warm place to do so. Who knew one of my six principles of great design, represent Mother Nature, would come to the fore with such alacrity!?

That morning, Mother Nature represented herself in the form of a blizzard in the wee hours of yesterday just before the plane was set to take off. First, we were told the flight was delayed. After two hours on the runway, it was canceled entirely.

After deplaning, and just when I was ready to re-book on another airline, we were told it was on again, but seriously delayed. So, we all filed back onboard. I tapped my toes and tried to decide how best to add a touch of Casual Luxury to the rather stark landscape of the airport gate when finally the plane and crew were set to take off.

We landed hours after expected, and it was after 2 p.m. when my view was palm trees in the breeze. Needless to say, I needed a Starbucks. Eventually, with a coffee in hand and laden down by all my luggage, I made it to my destination.

I, now, look out at the ocean rollicking by my satellite office windows. I cannot believe how much has happened, and how far I have come in under 24 hours. Today, I awake after a restorative sleep. Bright sunshine is streaming in my room, and I have a new refreshed outlook.

I’ve set up my laptop and peripherals by the biggest windows in my suite. I made myself at home by bringing little personal luxuries like my favorite schnauzer photo, cozy robe, and slippers. I am working on my new lecture for this month’s upcoming garden show in Hartford. New photos, funny anecdotes and of course lots of Casual Luxury inspirational ideas. I am the headline speaker, so I hope to see you all there!

Til then, my MARtians, keep it casual. I’ll be home soon.
