MAR-velous Moss Balls

I enjoy adding interest and new textures to my home with things that are natural and speak of the garden. My moss ball collection has grown over the years as I have found that the addition of the green color and texture can highlight almost any room in the home. Recently I create my own version of the moss ball.

For this project, this is what you will need:

Several moss sheets
Premium craft and fabric glue
Styrofoam balls in assorted sizes
Greening pins
Disposable small painting brush sponge
Green thread (optional)
Disposable (optional) rubber gloves

Step 1
Squeeze glue on ΒΌ of the styrofoam ball. With the sponge brush, smooth glue into a thin layer. Place moss sheet over this area and secure with greening pins. Repeat until ball is completely covered.

Step 2 (optional)
For a more completed look, take green thread and one greening pin. Push the greening pin into the moss ball and tie a knot around it with the thread. Wrap the moss ball with thread keeping the thread taut. Go around the ball several times in different directions. End by knotting again on the greening pin. Remove the pin and if necessary, secure to remove any slack.

Now find a fabulous bowl, wood or wire basket or other vessel in which to place your new moss balls. Enjoy the look of moss without all the fuss. This is an inexpensive way to bring color, interest and whimsy into your home. Your moss balls will be a hit. They also make a wonderful gift.

And there you have it.
